Sefi Shliselberg is the Founder of nonprofit organization Women in Sovereign Entities, or WSE. The association recognizes the leading role of sovereign women in the capital markets, provides a forum for their connection and affiliation, for sharing best practices, and for supporting their leadership and development.
In this Opalesque.TV video interview, Sefi discusses the organization’s goals as the first woman-focused organization for the sovereign financial sector, including central banks, ministries of finance, sovereign funds, development banks, multilateral financial institutions and other sovereign financial entities. She points out that, although generally under-represented in many sovereign financial institutions, women are playing a larger role in the sector, and with good reason. She identifies statistics and themes in the sovereign sector that should promote greater inclusion and support for women. Through her interactions with sovereign executives, she identified an unmet need among sovereign women for connection and affiliation, and founded WSE. Her passion for supporting women’s growth and development led to her appointment to the bank’s Corporate and Investment Banking Women’s Network, and her involvement in NYU Stern Women’s Initiative. Prior to Deutsche Bank, Sefi was a Senior Vice President at Moody’s Investors Service where she launched the firm's first internet-based research service. She began her career at Chase Manhattan Bank launching marketing programs for the high net worth market.
