Mr. Hurlbut began his career with Salomon Smith Barney and was mentored by one of Jack Schwager's original Market Wizards; Ed Seykota. Their proprietary Systematic Hybrid Strategy invests in over 70 global futures markets as well as US equities. The strategy is directionally agnostic and designed to deliver non-correlated returns in up or down markets. Dynamic risk and asset allocation are based on market trends and patterns.
The strategy was launched in July 2012, outperforming both the SG CTA Index and HFRX Macro: Systematic Diversified CTA Index Benchmarks with a standard deviation of about 15%, correlation to the S&P500 is -0.12 and to the SG CTA Index 0.66. Ted Parkhill has over 25 years of management experience in the investment business. He is a founding partner of systematic macro investment manager Incline Investment Management (IIM). He is registered with the National Futures Association as a Principal and Associated Person of IIM. He has also been an Assistant Professor of Investments at Sierra Nevada College.
Prior to IIM he was the director at Zazove Associates a multi-billion dollar quantitative convertible securities manager. He was a senior executive at John W. Henry & Company one of the original Commodity Trading Advisors. He was also Managing Director of a small Commodity Trading Advisor in 2007. Before joining the alternative investment space in 2001, Mr. Parkhill spent over ten years in various management roles in the mutual fund industry, notably with Ivy Mackenzie (the Ivy Funds) in the U.S. and with Investors Group in Canada. He began his career as an investment analyst with Great-West Life.
Mr. Parkhill earned his MBA from Cornell University with concentrations in Finance and Marketing. He received a B.A. in Economics from the University of Manitoba. He holds his Series 3, 7, 30 and 66 licenses and has earned the Chartered Financial Planning (CFP) designation.
